What Matters Most

Continuing with my theme of family I wanted to share this video on what matters most. The message is by our current Prophet, President Thomas S. Monson. What I like about this video is that the focus is on the people around us. We all have different family situations; we all most likely have unique definitions of who we consider our family to be. This video encompasses all of that.

No matter our situation in life, make sure that the people we love know that we love them. Focus on what matters most in our lives. It can be a difficult thing to do. I am trying harder to focus on the things that really matter but sometimes I get so distracted with whatever is going on around me. This video is a great reminder.

I love having a living prophet. Focusing on the essentials is not easy but I’m encourage by his words. What I find especially challenging is to decide how to divide time between important things. So my personal relationship with God and my relationship with my family are the two most important things for me. But it doesn’t necessarily mean that I spend most of my time on them. How do you decide how much time to spend with different things?

Great question Teppo. I wish I was wiser on the subject, I am not the greatest at how I spend my time. What I do try to do though is really focus when I have time with my family etc. My husband works very long hours so I don’t see him very much. I make sure that if he is home I am spending time with him and focusing on him no matter what else I may have going on. But I find that with my son, where I literally spend every waking hour with him I often don’t make that time count. Like you said, it’s not the amount of time we spend but I think it’s the focus and attention that we give to the times we have. I also think it is very individual and situationally based.
